We can also say that it is the basic building block, which is adapted by a child theme to get it into a real shape that people actually love.

So, when we talk about the Genesis Framework and Child theme, we actually discuss about two themes – parent theme (Framework) and Child theme.

In WordPress, when we install a theme then we also activate it to bring it live in action but in case of the Genesis Framework, we do not need to activate it; just install and leave it as is.

Note: Always install the parent theme first than its child theme. If you will install the child theme first and parent theme later, then the results will be weird. If you have installed the child theme first then in this case, delete both themes and then install the parent theme followed by the child theme.
